Ambulatory and In-house
Services
Reproduction-
Breeding
With a board
certified theriogenologist on board, ECO can help you with all your
reproductive needs.
We offer many reproductive services including reproductive
examinations, breeding soundness examinations, breeding with cooled shipped or frozen semen, and
stallion collection for cooled and or frozen semen.
Reproduction- Foaling
During the
foaling season we provide 24 hour foal watch for your mare. The foaling of each mare
will be monitored and or assisted by a veterinarian, so you can be
assured your horse is in good hands. We also complete a Foaling Mare and
Neonatal Exam on
each newborn.
Lameness
It is
critical that our horses are sound and able to perform at the
optimum level. There
are many experienced veterinarians at ECO that can help solve your
horse’s lameness issues and maintain peak performance. We have
a variety of diagnostic tools at our exposure including:
Radiography, Tendon Ultrasound,
and Thermography.
Surgery
Minor surgical procedures
are performed at the Equine Clinic at OakenCroft. Some of the common
procedures performed include:
castration, laceration repair, enucleations, periosteal
stripping, extraction of skin tumors, and hernia repair. We do have a surgery suite
at the clinic, which provides a safe, clean, warm area to perform
surgeries. The clinic
does not perform colic or advanced orthopedic surgeries. We refer these patients to
board certified equine surgeons.
Preventative Care
At the
Equine Clinic at OakenCroft we are dedicated to the overall health
of your horse. We try
to be proactive in the prevention of disease and can form a health
plan specifically for your horse.
Medicine
If your
horse does become ill, we have the option of medical treatment
at your farm/stable, or the patient can be brought to the
clinic for close supervision and IV fluid administration. The clinic is also staffed
with a laboratory technician and blood chemistry and CBC
analyzers. Therefore,
we can complete blood analysis in a timely fashion so our doctors
can adequately assess their patients and formulate an aggressive
treatment plan.
Dentistry
Equine
dentistry is an important step in improving your
horse’s comfort, prolonging his or her life, and improving
utilization of feed. A
routine dental float includes an oral exam, floating of sharp
points, and a bit seat.
Wolf teeth extractions and cap extractions can also be
performed if needed.
The Veterinarians at ECO are well educated in all aspects of
equine dentistry, and we have Powerfloats available for more
complicated dental cases.
Pre-Purchase
Examinations
Pre-purchase
examinations are performed by the veterinarians at ECO. Learning as much as you can
about your equine investment before your purchase will help you
decide if the horse is the right for you. We would be glad to help you
with your next equine purchase.
Complimentary
Therapies
Drs. Ryan Penno &
Kristin Richwagen are currently completing the training required to
continue Marilyn’s legacy of offering complimentary therapies for
your horses. They will
soon be able to offer spinal adjustment (Dr. Penno) and acupuncture (Dr.
Richwagen) as adjuncts to the traditional veterinary medicine
modalities.
Geriatric Care
Our Wellness
Program for Geriatric Horses is designed to
ensure the quality of life for your older horse in a compassionate
and economical fashion.
